Clarendon Marathon : event overview

The Clarendon Marathon is an annual charity running event organised by the Rotary Clubs of Winchester and Salisbury. The route follows the historic Clarendon Way from Salisbury to Winchester and is reported to be more than 90% off road, running mainly on country tracks and paths that have long historical use.

The event offers multiple distance choices:

  • Full marathon (26 miles)
  • Half marathon (13 miles)
  • Mini run (the last 5 miles)
  • Team relay for teams of four

The event was first run in 1998 and management of the race moved to the Rotary Clubs of Winchester and Salisbury in 2012. The race normally takes place on the first Sunday in October; the organisers list specific dates for each year.

Entry is described as all-inclusive. Where scheduled, buses are provided to transfer participants. Every participant receives a t-shirt, a finishers medal, and a complimentary Souvenir Program. Route resources include 2D and 3D maps, an ascent/descent profile, and a GPX file for the full marathon route.

The Clarendon Marathon is run to raise funds for a variety of charities and nonprofit organisations. The event materials include photo galleries, a printed Souvenir Program, and video features documenting recent editions. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
