Circuit of Glendalough

The Circuit of Glendalough is a mountain running event in County Wicklow on Saturday 19th September, 2026. The course covers 16.40 km with approximately 1000 m of ascent and is classified as Event Difficulty 9 (3,3,3) for difficult terrain, more than 500 m ascent and more than 10 km.

The route is not marked and GPS navigation is allowed. Checkpoints are specified with grid references: start and finish at T112 963 (Glendalough upper lake car park); 1st checkpoint T081 980 Camaderry 698 m; 2nd checkpoint T072 953 Lugduff 652 m; 3rd checkpoint T092 939 Mullacor 657 m; 4th checkpoint T119 954 Derrybawn 474 m.

Mandatory kit is Level C - Advanced. Required items include a waterproof jacket with integrated hood and taped seams, hat or buff, gloves, whistle, charged mobile phone with the emergency number stored, foil blanket or bivvy bag, waterproof full leg cover, means to carry at least 500 mL of water, emergency food, a map of the route or area, and a compass. The exact kit to be carried may be finalised on the day and will be advised at registration. Runners should have the means to carry all required items.
