Circuit of Glendalough

Circuit of Glendalough is a mountain running event in County Wicklow that follows a roughly circular route over Camaderry, Lugduff, Mullacor and Derrybawn. The planned route starts and finishes at the Glendalough upper lake car park (T 112 963) and visits checkpoints at Camaderry (T 081 980, 698 m), Lugduff (T 072 953, 652 m), Mullacor (T 092 939, 657 m) and Derrybawn (T 119 954, 474 m).

Distance is approximately 16.40 km with total climb about 1000 m. The course is not marked on the ground and GPS use is allowed. The event carries an Event Difficulty rating of 9 (3,3,3) indicating difficult terrain, more than 500 m ascent and a distance over 10 km. It is listed as part of the Leinster Championship.

Entry fees are stated as €7 for seniors and €5 for over 65s and under 18s. Entries open on Monday 14th September 2026 and close on Friday 18th September 2026; the organiser indicates a maximum of 50 places.

Mandatory kit is Level C and includes a waterproof jacket with integrated hood and taped seams; hat or buff; gloves; whistle; charged mobile phone with emergency number stored; foil blanket or bivvy bag; waterproof full leg cover; means to carry at least 500 mL water; emergency food; map of the route or area; and a compass. The final kit to be carried may be confirmed on the day. Failure to carry required items may result in denial of entry or disqualification and random kit checks may be carried out.
