Circuit of Glendalough

The Circuit of Glendalough is a mountain running event in County Wicklow scheduled for Saturday 19th September 2026. The main course measures 16.40 km with approximately 1000 m of climb. The event is rated 9 (3,3,3), indicating difficult terrain, more than 500 m ascent and a distance greater than 10 km. The route is not marked and GPS use is allowed. The event forms part of the Leinster Championship.

Mandatory kit is Level C. Runners must carry a waterproof jacket with integrated hood and taped seams, hat or buff, gloves, whistle, a charged mobile phone with an emergency number stored, a foil blanket or bivvy bag, waterproof full leg cover, means to carry at least 500 mL of water, emergency food, and a map and compass. The final kit to be carried during the race will be confirmed at registration depending on conditions. Failure to have required items may result in denial of entry or disqualification and random kit checks may be carried out.

The course starts at grid reference T 112 963 at the Glendalough upper lake car park and finishes at the same location. Checkpoints are at T 081 980 Camaderry 698 m, T 072 953 Lugduff 652 m, T 092 939 Mullacor 657 m and T 119 954 Derrybawn 474 m. Carrick Winter is a 9 km mountain run with 324 m of ascent in County Wicklow. A 4.8 km short course is also available. All runners must bring mandatory kit, including a waterproof jacket and emergency items.

A national championship 50 km ultramarathon in Donadea Forest Park, County Kildare, organised by Donadea Running Club and scheduled for 14 February 2026. Late entries use offsite parking with a shuttle to the race.
