Circle of Pain

Circle of Pain is a backyard ultra organized by the PEI Roadrunners Club, an affiliate member of Sport PEI. The event uses a closed trail loop of 6.7 km. Participants run repeated laps of this loop until only one runner remains; the last person standing is the winner.

The PEI Roadrunners Club’s mandate is to promote the sport of running on Prince Edward Island and to encourage Islanders to adopt a healthy, active lifestyle. Proceeds from most races and runs sanctioned by the Club are directed to charities, sporting organizations and other community causes.

The format relies on a repeated loop on a closed trail, which requires participants to manage effort and recovery between laps to continue over multiple circuits. Available details describe the race format, the loop distance and the Club’s practice of distributing event proceeds to community and sporting causes.
