Cilcain Mountain Race

The 55th Cilcain Mountain Race is a mountain running event on the Clwydian Range in North Wales. The main race covers 7.4 km with 380 m of ascent and begins at St Marys Church at the Cilcain Show. The event incorporates the Welsh Athletics Senior (Short) Inter-Regional Mountain Running Championships and the North Wales Regional Championships; entrants are asked to allow at least seven days before the race for Welsh Athletics affiliation to be checked.

Entries close Saturday 29th August. There are no entries on the day; separate show entry fees apply for on-site show entries. Junior races for U7 to U15 are held behind the showground and have free entry.

Toilets are available in the church or on the showground. Water is provided at the start and finish. Food and drink are available on the showground, and the Fell Inn provides a post-race drink and snack on presentation of a race number. Entry fees as listed include a seniors fee of £5 including booking fee, and an Over 16 main race fee of £2.50; separate show entry fees for adults and children are noted. Deestriders ORGP Race 1 is a multi terrain, approximately four mile race on 4 June 2026 at Care & Repair NE Wales in Shotton. Entry is £10 or £8 for affiliated club members and the field is limited to 200.

A short fell race near Mold covering 5.6 km with 366 m of climb on a partially marked route. Day entry is £4 and the minimum age is over 16.

A five race summer trail series at Wirral Country Park held on the third Tuesday of each month from April to August. Races use a recurring course of about 8K and offer age category prizes, with single race and full series entry options.

A midweek memorial trail race around Frodsham Hill organised by Helsby Running Club, covering 8.4 km with 370 m of ascent. The route is marked and marshalled, chip-timed, licensed by the TRA, and open to runners aged 17 and over.
