55th Cilcain Mountain Race

The 55th Cilcain Mountain Race is held on Monday 31st August at St Marys Church during the Cilcain Show in the Clwydian Range, North Wales. The main course is 7.4 km with 380 m of ascent and incorporates the Welsh Athletics Senior Short Inter-Regional Mountain Running Championships and the North Wales Regional Championships. Entrants who require Welsh Athletics affiliation checks should enter at least seven days before the event.

Entries close at 20:00 on Saturday 29th August and there are no entries on the day; show entry is handled separately. Junior races for U7 to U15 have free entry and take place behind the showground. The event lists a maximum entry of 250 competitors.

On-site facilities include toilets in the church and on the showground, water available at the start and finish points, and food and drink on the showground from midday. The Fell Inn will provide a post-race drink and snack on presentation of a race number. Entry fees are listed as £5 for seniors including booking fee, and an over 16 main race fee of £2.50. A monthly trail race at Wirral Country Park, the July event on 14 July 2026 uses an approximately 8K course and is open to runners aged 16 and over. Entry is £16 for one race or £64 for the full five-race series.

A fell race at Plas Dolben near Llangynhafal covering about 8 km with 457 m of climb on a partially marked course. There is a 50 minute cut-off at the top gate, entry on the day is £5 and minimum age is over 16.

A guided traverse of the 14 Welsh 3000 foot peaks covering about 50 km and roughly 4,000 m of ascent, offered as a continuous 20 hour challenge or over two to three days with low ratio guiding and on-route support.

A three day, fully guided loop of Northern Snowdonia covering just over 100 km and 47 summits with low guide ratios, daily return to Capel Curig and on route support.
