Butterfly Run

The Butterfly Run is a timed event based at the Xcel Sports Hub Stadium in Walton-on-Thames. This event follows a flexible format where participants select their own distance during the race. The course consists of a 5.3 km (3.28 mile) out and back loop along the River Thames towpath.

The terrain is an off-road trail on a riverside towpath. The route is flat with no elevation gain or loss throughout the course. Participants have a total of seven hours to complete as many or as few laps as they choose. Available distances include:

  • 5 km
  • 10 km
  • Half Marathon
  • Marathon
  • Ultra Marathon

The event features a "rock up and run" start window, allowing participants to begin their run at any time within a specified 60-minute period. Results are published on the same day, and participants have access to an aid station during the run. All finishers receive a bespoke spinning medal, though a lower-cost registration option without a medal is also available. Digital bibs and finishers certificates are provided to all participants.

For participants aged 20 or under, certain distance restrictions apply in accordance with UK Athletics rules. Registration is limited to a fixed number of places. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
