Chocolate Bunny : MMT Training Academy night run

The Chocolate Bunny is a nighttime training run on the southern section of the Massanutten Mountain Trail that mirrors the night portion of the MMT 100. The course covers 25.9 miles and includes about 5,300 feet of total ascent and descent. It corresponds roughly to miles 70 to 96 of the full MMT route and passes features named Big Run, Kerns Mountain, and Bird Knob.

The run starts and finishes at the Route 211 commuter parking lot near mile 90 of the MMT. Prior daytime experience on the MMT course is a stated prerequisite. Entry is open but limited to 60 runners.

There will likely be a single aid opportunity at the old Massanutten Visitors Center, about 15.2 miles into the course. That aid station is organized as personal aid: participants prepare and label a sealed bag of their own supplies for volunteers to make available. Water, Gatorade, and sodas will be provided at that location. There is no aid at the finish, so participants must provide their own post run refreshments.

Organizers provide a GPX file and a turnsheet as navigational aids. A fair amount of the course has cell coverage, so carrying a phone for emergencies is noted as an important safeguard. The event operates without medical personnel or on course medical supplies; participants are responsible for their own medical care and safety.
