Event Information

The Chilterns Trail Marathon is a guided trail running event covering the marathon distance of 42.2 km (26.2 miles). The event starts from the Iron Room Hall near Tring station.

Course Details

The route goes through the Chiltern Hills. It incorporates parts of the Ridgeway, one of Britain’s oldest routes, as well as lesser-known paths and trails. The course passes through Wendover Woods and Nature Reserves, combining technical single-track trails with more popular local routes. The terrain includes rolling hills with an ascent of 500m.

Event Format

Participants run in small groups with a qualified Run Leader who provides navigation, trail running tips, and information about the local area. The event has a checkpoint with refreshments. The finish is typically by around 3pm, depending on the group's pace. A unique wooden finisher's medal is included.

Requirements

Participants need to be able to run a half marathon distance on the flat in under 2.5 hours. Trail shoes are mandatory. The event has a capacity of 40 spaces. Participants are grouped by ability.

Logistics
