Guided Trail Marathon in the Chilterns
The Chilterns Trail Marathon is a guided running event that covers a distance of 42.2 km through the Chiltern Hills. Participants run in groups categorized by ability, led by qualified English Athletics Run Leaders. These guides manage all aspects of navigation and provide running technique tips throughout the duration of the event.
The route features approximately 500 meters of total ascent over rolling hills and includes a variety of terrain such as technical single-track trails and popular local paths. The course passes through several notable locations, including parts of the Ridgeway, local nature reserves, and Wendover Woods. Participants may encounter local wildlife such as deer and red kites along the way.
Physical requirements for the event include the ability to run a half marathon on flat terrain in under 2.5 hours. Mandatory kit for all runners includes trail shoes. Facilities at the starting location at the Iron Room near Tring Station include toilets and a bag drop service.
Registration takes place at the Iron Room, which is located a three-minute walk from Tring Station. This location provides rail links to London Euston and includes paid parking options. The event fee includes:
