Chilterns Trail Marathon

This is a guided, one-day trail marathon covering 42.2 km (26.2 miles) through the Chiltern Hills. The route uses sections of the Ridgeway and lesser known paths, passes through nature reserves and Wendover Woods, and includes rolling hills with around 500 m of ascent. The event capacity is 40 places and the listed ticket price is £75.

English Athletics qualified run leaders accompany every group. Participants are grouped by ability; leaders handle navigation, offer technique tips and information about the local area, and the team walk any sections that are too steep. Runners should be able to run a half marathon on the flat in under 2.5 hours. Due to the time of year, trail shoes are required.

On-route provisions include up to three refreshment stops and a well stocked checkpoint. Facilities at the start location include toilets and a bag drop. The finish includes a wooden Run the Wild finisher’s medal and a Trees not Tees certificate. The event starts from the Iron Room Hall near Tring Station; the station is approximately a three minute walk away and has paid parking and a taxi rank, with limited on-street free parking nearby.
