Chicopee Woods WildRUN
Chicopee Woods WildRUN is a trail running event held in partnership with the Elachee Nature Science Center at the Chicopee Woods Nature Preserve in Gainesville, GA. The event includes multiple trail distances that run through rhododendron groves, across creeks, over a 140 foot suspension bridge, and along rolling pine needle covered trails.
Event options include:
- 7 mile trail race
- 3 mile trail race
- Kids trail race, ages 4 to 13
The 7 mile race has a 3 hour cutoff. An earlier start may be available by request with the organizer. Team Summit will host two group trail runs before the event for runners to preview the course; dates are to be announced.
Access to Chicopee Woods requires a parking pass. Race registration offers an opportunity to purchase an Elachee membership at a discount that includes an annual parking pass and priority parking for new members near the start and finish. Non members may be directed to overflow parking and a shuttle service.
The Elachee Nature Science Center manages the 1,440 acre preserve and promotes environmental education and conservation through programs, exhibits, and care of the trail system. The preserve contains a 12.24 mile trail system and four habitat types: woodland, lake, stream, and wetland. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
