Merrill's Mile is a multi-hour running event held at Camp Frank D Merrill in Dahlonega, GA. The event offers timed formats of 48 hour, 24 hour, 12 hour, and 6 hour running on a measured loop. The course is a paved asphalt loop, 12 foot wide, with each lap measuring 0.9951 miles and about 10 foot of elevation gain per lap. Runners change direction every six hours.
The start and finish share a single fully stocked aid station located at the loop. Typical items available all day and night include water, sports drink, pretzels, bananas, oranges, watermelon, peanut butter and jelly, and soft drinks. Previous offerings have included vegan tomato soup, grilled cheese, sweet potato and black bean burritos, potatoes, popsicles, smoothies, pancakes, and bacon. Ice is available to help runners stay cool.
The course is USA Track & Field certified. Event timing is provided by the event timing team. Entry to Camp Frank D Merrill requires pre-arrival procedures for gate access; detailed instructions are provided in the week before the event to facilitate entry.
