Chesterfield Gorge Ultra & Trail Races

The event is a choose your own adventure style trail run based at the Chesterfield Gorge Reservation. The course is an out-and-back that follows the dirt road next to the river to the mile 5 post. The surface is a rolling jeep road with some rocky sections; it is described as not technical trail running.

Runners may complete as much mileage as they wish within a 30 hour time limit for ultra distances. Runners may stop and receive credit for any full lap completed. Ultra runners (excluding the 50k) may change their chosen distance at any time. Staggered starts are used to space participants; only participants who start at the prescribed start time are eligible for awards, but alternative start times can be requested when needed.

Aid support includes an unmanned, water only station about 3.5 miles from the start/finish and multiple manned aid stations with volunteers and standard food and drink options.

Lap requirements for each distance:

  • 100 mile: 10 complete laps
  • 100 km: 6 complete laps plus 2 miles
  • 50 mile: 5 complete laps
  • 50 km: 3 complete laps plus 1 mile
  • 100 mile relay: relay format based on the 100 mile course
  • 33 km: 2 complete laps, 4 hour limit
  • 11 km: 1 lap, 3 hour limit

The event is a nonprofit fundraiser supporting the Hilltown Land Trust. Registration fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. There will be a small give-away and a special recognition for 100 mile finishers. Small unanticipated changes may occur before the race.
