Chesterfield Gorge Ultra & Trail Races

The event takes place at Chesterfield Gorge Reservation in Chesterfield, MA on May 30 to May 31, 2026. It is presented as a choose your own adventure style ultra and trail event with multiple distance options and a 30 hour window for most ultra entries.

The out-and-back course follows the dirt road next to the river until the mile 5 post. The surface is a rolling jeep road with rocks present but not described as technical trail. An unmanned water only aid station sits about 3.5 miles from the start/finish. Manned aid stations will be staffed by volunteers and offer standard aid station food and drinks.

Runners may adjust their target distance at any time and may stop and take credit for any full lap completed. Lapped structure for main distances is as follows:

  • 3 complete laps plus a mile for the 50km race
  • 5 complete laps for the 50 mile race
  • 6 complete laps plus 2 miles for the 100km race
  • 10 complete laps for the 100 mile race Runners who enter the ultra category may elect one of those distances. The 33k event requires two full laps within four hours. The 11k event requires completion within three hours. Ultramarathon events occur on the first day and the 33k and 11k events occur on the second day.

The race is a nonprofit fundraiser supporting the Hilltown Land Trust. Registration fees are non refundable and non transferable. Total event registration is limited to 400 entrants.
