Cheddar Gorge Challenge

The Cheddar Gorge Challenge is an off road running event set in Cheddar Gorge and the Mendip Hills. The event takes place on 14 June 2026 and uses routes within a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The course includes gorge cliff top paths, open Somerset meadows and sections showing Roman mining and World War II bunkers.

Distances on offer include shorter fun runs and longer trail races. The marathon and half marathon visit Beacon Batch, the highest point on the Mendip Hills. Routes are waymarked and marshalled, and runners are set off in waves of about 100 to spread entries across the course.

There are multiple feed stations depending on distance, with water, electrolyte and a mix of snacks including gluten free and vegan options. Practical arrangements at Warren Farm include on site parking with a small charge payable to the farmer, toilet facilities, coffee and food vans, and a bag drop. The courses are not suitable for buggy or canicross runners because of the terrain.

All finishers of distances of 6 km and longer receive a large two sided event medal. Professional race photos will be available to purchase within 48 hours, and race results are published on the evening of the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
