Chase the Sun - Dorset

Chase the Sun is a midweek summer evening event held at the Blue Pool nature reserve in Dorset. It features chip-timed trail races on a course that begins and ends at the Blue Pool and includes ancient woodland trails, hills, occasional castle views and a long ridge section. The route passes around the Blue Pool twice.

There are two distances:

  • 7 mile trail race
  • 3 mile trail race

The 7 mile route is longer and includes ridge running and more varied terrain; the 3 mile route is flatter and remains close to the water. The event is presented as accommodating both competitive athletes and recreational runners. Race entry includes access to The Blue Pool nature reserve for the runner, one adult supporter and up to two children under 16; additional non-running supporters pay the usual entry fee. Usual public entry is listed as £9.50 per adult and £4.75 per child.

Because the race takes place within a nature reserve, the event is cup-less; participants should bring a collapsible cup for the aid station and the finish. After racing there is food, music, medals and the possibility of a sunset drink by the water. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
