Course and format

The half marathon distance is 14.35 miles and is a trail running event. The route heads south from Redcar beach and finishes in the fishing village of Staithes. The course passes coastal villages, runs on sand, and includes cliff-top sections on the Cleveland Way. A landmark called the "Circle" sculpture is located between miles 7 and 8. The surface can include mud, sand, rocks and trees. Total elevation is 1,591 ft over the route. A five hour cutoff is in place, which allows walkers to take part.
