About the Event
The Champion Mine Trail Race takes place in Nevada City, California. The event is organized by the Sierra TrailBlazers Running Club and the Bear Yuba Land Trust.
Course and Distances
Two distances are offered:
- Champion Mine Trail Race Half Marathon (13.1 miles)
- Champion Mine 5K Fun & Fitness Run/Walk (5K)
The half marathon course travels through Nevada City trails. It passes through pine forests, crosses a historic swinging bridge, and includes a series of climbs. The route uses a mix of pavement, gravel, and single-track trails. It includes views along the Tribute Trail and Deer Creek. There are multiple aid stations on the half marathon course, and one water station for the 5K.
The race starts on historic Broad Street in Nevada City.
Event Details
Race bib pick-up is scheduled at a local bakery and brewery the day before the event. A custom-made finisher's medal is provided for participants. Half marathon entrants receive a custom race shirt.
Participant Information
Dogs are not allowed on the course but are permitted on a leash at the finish area at Miners Foundry. Strollers are not allowed on either course due to single-track trails. Participants are asked to bring their own water bottle or cup to refill at aid stations. Headphones are discouraged unless they are open-ear for safety. The trail is open to the public.
