Champion Mine Trail Race

Event overview

The Champion Mine Trail Race is scheduled for October 11, 2026 in Nevada City, California. The event is presented by the Sierra TrailBlazers Running Club and Bear Yuba Land Trust and is described as the inaugural running of this race. Two distances are offered:

• 13.1 miles (half-marathon)
• 5K

Registration opens June 1, 2026. Listed entry fees are $69.90 for the half-marathon and $38.10 for the 5K, each shown inclusive of a small processing fee. Race registration includes a race bib, timing and posted results, finish line photos, and other items such as a custom-made finisher medal made from local materials and a custom race shirt for half-marathon entrants.

Course and logistics

The course begins on Nevada City’s Broad Street and uses a mix of pavement, gravel, and single-track trails. Described features include towering pines, a historic swinging bridge, Tribute Trail and Deer Creek views, a newly constructed trail section, historical landmarks, and a series of climbs. The half-marathon has multiple aid stations; the 5K has a water station. Runners are asked to bring their own cup or water bottle for refills.

Course rules and safety notes include no dogs on the course (dogs on leash may wait at the Miners Foundry), no strollers on the course, walking across the swinging bridge for half-marathon participants, and use of open-eared headphones only. Participants are responsible for knowing the course and may download a GPX or Strava map for reference.
