The Castlewellan Run Forest Run event takes place at The Courtyard, Castlewellan Forest Park, Main Street, Castlewellan, Co. Down BT31 9BU. It is the sixth and final race in the Run Forest Run Series. The start and finish are located near the lakeside castle, with course views that include the Mourne Mountains and a permanent maze. The route is off-road, so actual distances may vary slightly.

Entry is online only; race packs are posted to participants and will be posted on 19 February 2026, with bibs expected to arrive by 23 February 2026. Standard entry fees are shown in the event information (for example, 5K and 10K listed at £28 and an early bird rate at £26). Junior rates and early bird offers are listed for eligible ages. Race entry includes a Run Forest Run medal, individual chip timing, a race number, and post-race refreshments. Refunds or transfers to another event are not available; transfer of an entry to another person is permitted by contacting the organiser.

Additional information: a £5 fee applies for parking in the main car park; free parking is available outside the Forest Park about 1 km away. No pets are allowed. There will be no water stations, so runners should carry water if needed. Toilets and showers are available on site. Regular running shoes are suitable; buggies are not allowed. A new 10K trail run on the Cooley Peninsula at McCrystals Track in Jenkinstown, featuring forest trails, steady climbs, runnable sections and 240 m of elevation. Finishers receive a unique medal and on site parking is available.

The Pat Dunbar Memorial is a 13 km mountain race in County Down, featuring 700 meters of climb. It is a NIMRA league event requiring standard mountain running safety gear. The finish and prizegiving are at Carrick Little in the Mournes.

Hill & Dale in Castlewellan, County Down on 16 April 2026 covers 8.50 km with 330 m of ascent. The race is organised by Newcastle AC for the Hill & Dales League; GPS is not permitted and Level B mandatory kit is required.
