The Carrick Winter race is scheduled for Saturday 14 February 2026 in Glenealy village, Co. Wicklow. It is part of the Winter League Leinster. The race uses a new route introduced in winter 2025. The course may be subject to last-minute changes following a course check after a storm. Prizegiving will be at The Hurlers, Glenealy.

Course and format

  • 9.00 km main course
  • 4.80 km short course for juniors and those choosing a shorter run

The main route has 324 m of climb. The event difficulty rating is 6 (2,2,2) - moderate terrain, 200 m - 500 m ascent, 6 km - 10 km. The route is fully marked. GPS use is not allowed.

Registration takes place in Glenealy Village Hall. The race start is about 1 km from the community centre. There is an early start option for slower runners. Short course runners use an out-and-back route.

Logistics and safety

Mandatory Level B kit must be carried and brought to the race: waterproof jacket; hat or buff; gloves; whistle; charged mobile phone with emergency number stored; and a foil blanket, bivvy bag or equivalent. The exact kit to be carried during the race may be finalised on the day depending on conditions. Failure to have required items may lead to denied entry or disqualification and random kit checks may be carried out.

Parking is not at the summer venue. Recommended parking locations are Glenealy Community Hall, the small carpark opposite the Catholic church, or on the road up to the right after crossing the railway behind the church.
