Carkeek Warmer Trail Run

The Carkeek Warmer Trail Run takes place at Carkeek Park in Seattle and is part of a Tuesday evening trail series. The event offers two marked course distances on trails that traverse the park forest, using a mix of wide, fast trail and narrower rolling singletrack with some flat, moderate, and steep sections. The park contains approximately six miles of trails that run through older forest and valley terrain.

Course details and distances:

  • 5K : follows Piper’s Creek Trail, climbs to the head of the valley then returns and finishes via South Ridge and Hillside Trails.
  • 10K : two loops of the 5K course.

Elevation gain is listed as about 480 feet for the 5K and about 960 feet for the 10K. Distance measurements were made with a measuring wheel and climb was estimated from contour maps.

An aid station is located at the start and finish and provides water, an electrolyte drink, and a variety of carbohydrate and salty snacks. Post-race food options include hot dogs, veggie dogs, watermelon, and other snacks. The event presents awards for the top three Female and Open category finishers in each distance and holds a raffle.

Participants should note that trails remain open to other park users. Event organizers state participants are responsible for their own safety and that USATF policy forbids running with dogs on course. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
