Carkeek Warmer Trail Run

The event takes place at Carkeek Park in Seattle and offers two trail distances. The courses run mostly in forested terrain (about 85%) and include a mix of fast, wide trail (about 64%) and narrower rolling trail (about 36%), with some flat sections and moderate to steep sections.

  • 10k

The 5k follows Piper’s Creek Trail, climbs gently then more steeply to the valley head, then returns and climbs the South Ridge Trail before descending to the meadow finish. The 10k is two loops of the 5k course. Elevation gain is listed as 480 feet for the 5k and 960 feet for the 10k. Distances were measured with a measuring wheel and climb was measured from a detailed contour map, with distance likely within 1% and climb within 10%.

An aid station will be at the start/finish, the halfway point for 10k runners, offering water, electrolyte drink, and a selection of carbohydrate or salty snacks. Post-race food includes hot dogs, veggie dogs, watermelon, and other snacks. Awards are given to the top three finishers in Female and Open categories for each distance, and a raffle may be held.

Participants should note limited parking inside the park and weekday evening traffic can be busy. Trails remain open to other users; runners are responsible for their own safety. Music should be played through headphones at a low volume and dogs are not allowed on course under USATF policy. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
