Capt'n Karl's Colorado Bend

Capt'n Karl's Colorado Bend is the third event in the Capt'n Karl's Trail Series and a nighttime trail run held at Colorado Bend State Park in Bend, Texas on July 18, 2026. The event offers multiple distances and a youth trail run across park terrain that includes cliffs, canyons, caves, springs, and waterfalls.

Each participant receives both a gun time and a chip time. Awards are based on gun time. Packet pickup on race day is scheduled from 5:00pm to 8:30pm. Registered participants who signed up before the shirt cutoff date of July 1 will receive an event shirt; later registrants will receive an alternative apparel item.

Medals will be given to all finishers and to participants who make an attempt but do not finish. Awards for Colorado Bend include the top three overall male and female finishers and top Masters male and female. Course maps and route details are provided for each distance.

Aid station services vary by distance. The 30k and 60k courses include five fully serviced aid stations including the start/finish and one station visited twice on a loop. The 10k and 20k have two fully serviced aid stations including the start/finish. The 5k has no aid stations on course and only access at the loop start and end. This is a cupless event so participants are expected to bring their own container or hydration system.

Pacers are permitted for 60k runners only on the second lap. Pacers must start and end at the race hub, are limited to one pacer per runner, and must pay a $10 special event fee at arrival. All pacers must complete event registration. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
