The Cancer Active Trail Race is a trail running event in Black Mountain, North Carolina, centered at 191 Vance Avenue. It offers two distance options:

  • 5K - in-person trail race
  • 5K - virtual option with submitted results

The in-person race is not chip timed. Overall prizes are awarded to the top three finishers in the in-person 5K. All runners who register before the deadline receive a race t-shirt; later or day-of registrants will receive a shirt but may need to accept an alternative size or style.

Logistics and course

Packet pickup is available at Mountain Running Company (106 State Street, Black Mountain) on the date listed by the organizer, and race day packet pickup and registration are at 191 Vance Avenue. The start area is near Vance Avenue, between Pulliam Stadium and the adjacent parking area; a parking lot is next to the start line. The 5K route is available for download from the organizer.

Course marshals and volunteers will staff intersections and turns. Runners must follow volunteer directions and stay within designated trail boundaries and cone or tape lines. Bibs must be worn on the front, unobstructed. Aid stations will carry a small first-aid kit and some stations will be staffed by medical professionals with advanced supplies. Spectators are allowed along most of the route. Transfer and deferral options are available; refunds are not issued. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
