The Cancer Active Trail Race takes place on May 16, 2026, in Black Mountain, North Carolina. The event features a 5k trail race and a virtual 5k option.

Race Logistics

Packet pickup is available on May 15 at Mountain Running Company in Black Mountain and on race day from 7:30 AM at 191 Vance Avenue. The in-person 5k begins at 9:00 AM. The start area is near Vance Avenue, between Pulliam Stadium and a parking area. This event is not chip-timed. Overall prize winners are the top three finishers in the 5k. On the Course

Race volunteers will be present at major intersections to guide runners. An aid station with a basic first-aid kit will be available, and some stations will have medical professionals. Runners must wear their bib visibly on the front. Spectators are welcome along most of the route.

Registration and Charity

All 5k and virtual runners who register before the deadline will receive a race t-shirt. Bib transfers and deferrals to the following year are permitted, but refunds are not issued. The event supports Cancer Active, a registered 501(c)(3) organization. All proceeds go toward projects helping cancer patients assess physical abilities and connect with fitness coaches.
