Camptown Races
The Camptown Races is an annual trail running event held in Camptown, Pennsylvania. This historic event features a course that combines different terrains, including paved roads, grass trails, and a technical trail section approximately 2.8 miles long. Participants navigating the trail portion will encounter natural obstacles such as tree roots, loose rocks, and a creek crossing.
The event offers several participation options:
- 10k Trail Race
- 5k Trail Race
- 10k Relay
For the 5k Trail Race, runners are transported by bus from the finish area to the starting line located at the trailhead of the Camptown Races Trail. From there, participants run the full length of the trail back into Camptown.
The 10k Relay divides the course into two sections. The first leg is primarily flat, taking place on pavement with a small portion on grass trails. This segment begins at the traditional start line and leads to the trailhead. The second leg is conducted entirely on the historic trail. Runners for the second leg are bussed to the exchange zone at the trailhead to complete their portion of the race back to the finish line.
