The event benefits the Friends of Salt Springs Park, a volunteer-run organization that helps maintain the park trails.

Course and logistics

All courses run on technical trails through old-growth forest and include steep climbs, runnable single track, and technical descents. The 5K is almost entirely on trail. The 10K includes a flat, faster section along the Wetlands trail that passes fields and streams. The 50K is five loops of the 10K course and is described as totaling more than 7,000 feet of elevation gain.

For the 50K there is a fully stocked aid station at the start of each loop (about every 6.5 miles); additional fuel must be carried. No pacers are allowed; poles are permitted. Drop bags can be left at the aid station area. The 50K has strict time cutoffs and runners who miss the last-lap start cutoff will not be allowed to continue. The event has a no-refund policy with possible deferral if notified at least 30 days before the race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
