Worlds End Ultramarathon
The Worlds End Ultramarathon takes place in the Endless Mountains of Pennsylvania, navigating through the Loyalsock State Forest and Worlds End State Park. The course primarily consists of rugged single-track trails and passes through remote sections featuring waterfalls, rock formations, and multiple mountain vistas. Participants traverse landmarks such as High Rock Vista, Sones Pond, and the Ketchum Run Gorge.
The event offers two distinct distances:
- 100 km: Includes approximately 12,000 feet of elevation gain with a 19-hour time limit.
- 50 km: Features approximately 5,800 feet of elevation gain with a 12-hour time limit.
The 100 km distance has specific entry requirements. All participants must have completed at least one official 50 km trail race within the two years prior to registration. This race is part of the Pennsylvania Triple Crown of Mountain Running series. The course for this distance includes 13 aid stations, four of which are accessible to crews, and three locations where pacers may join the runner.
The 50 km distance follows a portion of the same route as the longer race before returning to the finish. It includes six aid stations. For this distance, crew access and pacers are not permitted. Both courses feature technical terrain with frequent short climbs and rocky surfaces. Post-race food provided at the park includes a variety of options such as soups, chili, and burgers, with selections available for meat-eaters, vegetarians, and vegans.
