Call of the Wild Half Marathon & 5 Mile

The Call of the Wild event is an inaugural trail race held at Jack London State Historic Park in Glen Ellen, California on May 2, 2026. The course runs through the Beauty Ranch area developed by Jack London and travels past concrete silos with views of vineyard and hillsides on the slopes of Sonoma Mountain.

Distances offered:

  • Half Marathon
  • 5 Mile

The route moves from picnic areas near the London Cottage into hillsides populated by madrone, Douglas fir, black oak, buckeye, bigleaf maple, and grassy meadows. The course is marked with orange ribbon. Aid stations are located at miles 3 and 9.6 on the half marathon and at mile 2.5 on the 5 Mile; participants are advised to carry water. The half marathon has a course cut off time of 3.5 hours which corresponds to about a 16 minute per mile pace; a comparable pace guidance is noted for the 5 Mile.

Bibs will be mailed beginning two weeks before the event; participants who do not receive a bib can pick one up on site. All participants receive a T shirt. Finisher medals are awarded to half marathon finishers. Personalized award ribbons for the top three male and female finishers in each age group for all distances will be mailed after the event.

Registrations are non refundable and non transferable. Parking at Jack London State Park carries a $10 per vehicle fee and parking is limited. Headphones and audio devices are not allowed on course for safety due to narrow trails and steep drop offs. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
