California Gold Rush Trail Run

The California Gold Rush Trail Run is staged inside Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park in Coloma, CA (310 Back Street). The park occupies foothills along the south fork of the American River and is the site where gold was discovered in 1848.

Distances offered include:

  • Kids Run
  • 1 Mile
  • 5K - 600 ft ascent
  • 10K - 1,286 ft ascent
  • 15K - 1,834 ft ascent
  • Half Marathon - 2,493 ft ascent

All courses combine singletrack dirt trails with a few paved sections. Runners will encounter moderately technical ascents and descents, numerous switchbacks, rolling hills, and some flat stretches. The route is noted for scenic views and wildlife. Courses are well marked with signs at intersections, chalk markings, mile markers for all distances, and a halfway sign on the half marathon. Course marshals are stationed at key intersections.

Two fully stocked aid stations plus a water stop are available on course. The event is held rain or shine, and strollers are not allowed. A 4.5 hour time limit applies to the event. Parking is in the North Beach parking lot with a $10 parking fee; Golden Poppy passes are accepted. Online registration is available through the morning of the race and race day registration is offered. Entry fees are non refundable but may be transferred to another future Troy’s California Trail Runs event minus processing fees if arranged at least 24 hours before the event.

Medals are awarded to finishers in the 5K, 10K, 15K, and half marathon. Event shirts may be purchased during registration or at the event subject to supply. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
