The Cactus Classic Trail Races is a trail running event in its 16th year, taking place at Sand Ridge State Forest near Manito, Illinois.

Course Details
The course runs through the pine forests of Sand Ridge State Forest. It begins and ends at the Oak Campground. The trail features many flat, runnable sections alongside several rolling sections. The trail surface consists of the park's namesake loose, sandy soil, which is described as similar to running on a beach. The event is named for the variety of cactus that grows wild throughout the park.
Event Day Information
On race day, packet pickup is available from 6:45 AM to 7:50 AM. Parking is located in the Oak Camp area, with overflow parking along Cactus Drive. Participants who need to drop down to a shorter distance must do so before the race starts.
Registration and Apparel
Registration closes on February 28. To be guaranteed a shirt or hoodie, participants must register by February 21. Registrations after this date will not include apparel, and pricing is adjusted to reflect this. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
