Spring Stampede 5K/10K
The Spring Stampede is a trail running event held at Wildlife Prairie Park, located west of Peoria in Hanna City, Illinois. Organized by the Illinois Valley Striders, the event serves as an IVS Grand Prix Race. The course utilizes a variety of terrain within the park, including wide maintenance trails and sections of single track.
Participants can choose from two distinct distances:
- 5 km (approximately 3.1 miles)
- 10 km (approximately 6.2 miles)
Both distances follow a loop that starts at the main parking lot and travels through the park landscape. The 5 km route features relatively easy terrain. In contrast, the 10 km route is more demanding, particularly during the second half of the course. Because these are trail races, the specific distances provided are estimated.
Water stations are positioned along the course routes for participants. Admission to Wildlife Prairie Park for the day is included for those registered for the event. Following the conclusion of the races, snacks are provided. Awards are presented to the overall male and female winners, as well as to first, second, and third-place finishers in age groups ranging from 10 and under to 70 and over.
