Byron Fest 5K & 1 Mile Fun Run
The Byron Fest events take place at the Byron Forest Preserve in Byron, Illinois (7993 North River Road). The 2026 Rockford Road Runners Circuit Race includes a community oriented, family friendly 5K held on trails in the preserve and a separate 1 mile Fun Run.
The course uses maintained trails that offer varied terrain and panoramic views. Chip timing for the 5K is provided by J3 Timing. Plaques will be awarded to the overall male and female finishers. Medals will be awarded to the top three male and female finishers in each age division. Age divisions use five year groups: 0-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80 and above.

The Fun Run does not use chip timing; all Fun Run participants receive a participation medal. The 5K registration fee is $30 and the Fun Run fee is free. To be guaranteed a race shirt, 5K participants must be pre-registered by June 21, 2026 at noon; pre-registrations are accepted through July 10, 2026 at noon. Packet pick up and day of registration are available onsite before the race. Parking and indoor restrooms are available onsite. Due to terrain, baby joggers and strollers are discouraged.
