Byron Fest 5K & 1 Mile Fun Run

The Byron Fest events take place at the Byron Forest Preserve in Byron, Illinois (7993 North River Road). The 2026 Rockford Road Runners Circuit Race includes a community oriented, family friendly 5K held on trails in the preserve and a separate 1 mile Fun Run.

The course uses maintained trails that offer varied terrain and panoramic views. Chip timing for the 5K is provided by J3 Timing. Plaques will be awarded to the overall male and female finishers. Medals will be awarded to the top three male and female finishers in each age division. Age divisions use five year groups: 0-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80 and above.

The Fun Run does not use chip timing; all Fun Run participants receive a participation medal. The 5K registration fee is $30 and the Fun Run fee is free. To be guaranteed a race shirt, 5K participants must be pre-registered by June 21, 2026 at noon; pre-registrations are accepted through July 10, 2026 at noon. Packet pick up and day of registration are available onsite before the race. Parking and indoor restrooms are available onsite. Due to terrain, baby joggers and strollers are discouraged. A multiwave obstacle course at Byron Motosports Park offering 10K, 5K, ruck, and kids divisions, with Special Forces and Endurance competitive formats and team entry packs available.

An overnight loop endurance event at Lowell Park in Dixon, IL where participants repeat a .411 mile paved loop for 6, 12, or 24 hours. Solo and three person relay options are available and the event is self supported.

Night trail races in Dixon Illinois on an approximate 5 mile loop with solo distances and a three person relay, single aid station, post race snack, and on site tees for all participants.

A technical trail event at Franklin Creek State Natural Area offering 5K and 10K courses with multiple creek crossings and forested, hilly terrain. Proceeds benefit the Franklin Creek Conservation Association.
