Hobo Trail Runs

Hobo Trail Runs : Rock Cut State Park, Rockford IL

A multi day trail event held at Rock Cut State Park with single race entries and combined series options. The program includes a night trail 10 km plus daytime 25 km and 50 km races. Participants may enter individual distances or one of two multi race options that combine the three events into an overall series.

Distances offered:

• 10 km evening trail run
• 25 km supported course
• 50 km supported course
• Triple Crown 85 km (all three races combined)
• Triple Crown Lite 60 km (all three races combined with a shorter total distance)

The 10 km is held on trails after dark and requires participants to carry running lights, headlamps, or flashlights. Trails will be marked with signage, reflective tape, and glow sticks. The park locks gates after park hours so runners must finish and exit before park closure. Course support windows differ by day; the Saturday 25 km course has shorter on course support than the Sunday 25 km and the 50 km, which have longer support.

Packet pickup and day of registration are available on event days near the boat launch for the 10 km and at the Red Oak picnic area for the 25 km and 50 km. A no swag entry option is available for those who prefer reduced fees; no swag entrants remain eligible for race awards. Race awards use Hobo Railroad Spikes for overall male and female and top three in age groups. Triple Crown finishers receive special spike awards and additional commemorative items. No refunds.
