Gristmill Grind 10K

The GristMill Grind is the sixth annual trail event held at Franklin Creek State Natural Area near Franklin Grove, Illinois. The event offers the following distances:

• 10K

Course, logistics, and fees

The course is a technical trail with multiple hills and an average elevation gain of about 100 ft per mile. The route passes through ravines, limestone bluffs, springs, and forest canopy and includes some gravel road sections. Runners cross Franklin Creek twice on the 5K and five times on the 10K. Drinking water is available at the start/finish and at the mid-race shelter for the 10K; participants should bring a disposable cup or a hydration bladder because cups will not be provided.

Registration pricing listed by the organizer: $25 during the early signup period, $35 after that period, and $45 on race day. Event T-shirts are available for purchase for $20 and are guaranteed for registrations completed before August 15, 2026. Check-in takes place at the Hausen Knox Shelter. All proceeds support the Franklin Creek Conservation Association for park programs, expansion, and improvements.
