The sixth annual GristMill Grind takes place in Franklin Grove, IL at Franklin Creek State Natural Area, with check-in at the Hausen Knox Shelter. The event offers the following distances:

• 10K

Course and logistics

The course is a technical trail with ravines, limestone bluffs, forest canopy, some gravel road, and creek crossings. The 10K crosses Franklin Creek five times; the 5K crosses it twice. Elevation gain is about 100 ft per mile. Water is available at the start/finish and at a mid-race point for the 10K. Participants must bring a disposable cup or a hydration bladder because no cups will be provided. The event allows running, walking, or rucking. Proceeds support the Franklin Creek Conservation Association for park programs, expansion, and improvements. Awards are planned for the top three male and female finishers in each distance and for ruckers. Registration opened on September 1, 2025; early price was $25 through July 31, 2026, then $35, and the race day fee is $45.
