Hindsight Ultra Trail Runs - Dixon, IL
Hindsight Ultra Trail Runs is a grassroots trail running event held on Dixon Park District property near 1605 Washington Ave in Dixon, IL. The event offers multiple distances on a roughly 7.85 mile loop. Distances include:
- 100 Miler
- 100k
- 50k
- 25K
- 8 Mile
Two loops yield the 25k, four loops the 50k, eight loops the 100k, and thirteen loops produce about 103 miles. The course combines varied terrain with roughly 50% singletrack, 30% grassy meadow paths, and 20% gravel paths. There are no water crossings or mountain sections. Total elevation for the 100 mile distance is approximately 6200 feet, averaging just under 60 feet per mile. Although the course is maintained, runners should expect tree roots, small stumps, rocks, and other typical singletrack obstacles.
There are two aid locations: Start/Finish and a water station at about mile 3.7. The Start/Finish aid offers water, snacks, and hot food options through the night along with items volunteers and runners may share. The water station provides water and ice. Crew access is allowed at both locations; the water station is about a one third mile walk from Start/Finish. Pacers are permitted after the first lap for all distances and may join or leave runners at the aid locations. Personal canopies are allowed on a first come, first serve basis; campers are not permitted.
Finishers of the 25k, 50k, and 100k receive medals and 100 mile finishers receive a buckle. New awards recognize the top three male and female finishers in each distance; eligibility for those awards requires starting at the designated start time.
All activity occurs on public park property and participants are responsible for their crew and behavior. Violations of park rules or disrespect toward property or staff may result in removal and disqualification. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
