Hindsight Ultra Trail Runs is a grassroots looped ultramarathon held on Dixon Park District property near 1605 Washington Ave, Dixon, Illinois. The course is based on a single loop of about 7.85 miles and mixes surface types and technical features. Runners should expect roughly 50% singletrack, 30% grassy meadows path, and 20% gravel path, with tree roots, small stumps, rocks, and other typical singletrack obstacles. The total elevation for the 100 mile distance is roughly 6,200 feet, which is just under 60 feet per mile.

- 100 Miler: 13 loops (about 103 miles, 3 extra credit)
- 100k: 8 loops
- 50k: 4 loops
- 25k: 2 loops
- 8 Mile: 1 loop
There are two aid stations: the Start/Finish location and a water-only station at about 3.7 miles. The Start/Finish aid provides water, snacks, and overnight hot food plus items shared by volunteers and runners; the water station provides water and ice. Crew access is allowed at both aid stations. Pacers are allowed after the first lap and may join or leave runners at the Start/Finish or the aid station. Personal canopies are permitted on a first come first serve basis; no campers are allowed. Packet pick-up and participant set-up occur on the morning of the event.
Awards include medals for 25k, 50k, and 100k finishers and a buckle for 100 mile finishers. New awards recognize the top three male and female finishers in each distance; to be eligible for those awards a runner must start at the designated start time.
