Hindsight Ultra Trail Runs

Hindsight Ultra Trail Runs is a grassroots looped trail event held on Dixon Park District property in Dixon, Illinois. The race emphasizes varied terrain rather than large vertical gain, and the course mixes technical singletrack, grassy meadows, and gravel with a long exposed stretch and no water crossings or mountains.

The course is a roughly 7.85 mile loop. Distance options are based on completing multiple loops:

  • 25K - two loops of the course (approx 7.85 miles per loop)
  • 50K - four loops
  • 100K - eight loops
  • 100 Mile - thirteen loops for about 103 miles; the 100 mile total elevation is roughly 6,200 feet

The trail is maintained but runners should expect tree roots, small stumps, rocks and uneven footing. There are two aid stations: the Start/Finish station offers water, snacks and hot food options through the night, while a secondary water station at about 3.7 miles provides water only. Crew access is allowed at both aid locations and the aid station is about a one third mile walk from Start/Finish. Pacers may join after the first lap and may join or leave runners at the aid locations. Personal canopies are permitted on a first come first serve basis; campers are not allowed.

Finishers receive hardware by distance: medals for 25K, 50K and 100K finishers, and a buckle for 100 mile finishers. Top three male and female awards are offered for each distance and require starting at the designated start time. Participants must follow Park District rules and respect park property and visitors.
