Hindsight Ultra Trail Runs, Dixon IL

Hindsight Ultra Trail Runs is a multi-distance loop trail event held on Dixon Park District property. The course uses a roughly 7.85 mile loop with distances achieved by repeating the loop:

  • 100 Miler
  • 100k
  • 50k
  • 25k
  • 8 Mile

The course surface is a mix of about 50% singletrack, 30% grassy meadow path, and 20% gravel path. Total elevation for the 100 mile effort is roughly 6,200 feet, which is just under 60 feet per mile. Expect typical singletrack features such as tree roots, small stumps, rocks, and other ankle rollers; there are no water crossings or mountainous terrain on course.

There are two aid locations: the start/finish area and a water-only station at about mile 3.7. The start/finish aid provides water, snacks, and hot food through the night along with items that volunteers and runners may share. Crew access is allowed at both aid locations; the secondary aid is approximately a one third mile walk from the start/finish. Pacers may join after the first lap and can join or leave at the start/finish and the aid station.

Personal canopies are permitted in allocated spots on a first come, first served basis; camping is not allowed. Medals are awarded to 25k, 50k, and 100k finishers, and a buckle is awarded to 100 mile finishers. Top three male and female awards are given in all distances for runners who start at the designated start time.

Runners and crew must follow Park District rules; disrespectful behavior may result in removal, disqualification, and a DNF. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
