Bull Dam Trail Run
The Bull Dam Trail Run takes place at the Howard Eaton Reservoir, commonly known as Bulls Dam, in North East, Pennsylvania. This event features a mixture of wide gravel roads, grass trails, and tree-canopied single-track paths. Participants can choose from three distinct distances:
- 5 km Trail Run/Walk
- 10 km Trail Run
- 13.1 Miles (Half Marathon) Trail Run
The 5 km course consists of a single lap around the reservoir. It follows a very flat route on wide gravel and grass trails, making it accessible for those seeking a level surface. This is the only distance where dogs and strollers are permitted.
The 10 km and 13.1 Miles courses lead runners into the woods for a more adventurous experience. These routes include single-track dirt trails that are not considered technical, though they present unique challenges. While the terrain is not flat, the hills are short. There are no major water crossings. The 13.1 Miles event consists of two laps of the 10k-plus course. Dogs and strollers are strictly prohibited for these two longer distances.
The event uses a soft start or rolling start window with Radio Frequency chip timing to track individual progress. Results are calculated based on the differential between the participant's start and finish times. Following the run, participants may receive refreshments such as local fruits, prepackaged snacks, or a breakfast including waffles and sausage. Proceeds from the event support local youth and Boy Scout development activities. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
