Broken Rock Trail Runs
Broken Rock Trail Runs is a looped trail event at Bethel Horizons near Dodgeville, Wisconsin. The course follows the Broken Rock Trail on the Driftless Area bluffs and is offered in three distances.
- 50K: three loops, 30.75 miles, ~3300 ft elevation gain
- 20 Miler: two loops, 20.5 miles, ~2200 ft elevation gain
- 10 Miler: one loop, 10.25 miles, ~1100 ft elevation gain
Each loop includes mixed terrain: approximately 33% mountain bike singletrack, 33% grass path, 21% hiking path, 7% pavement, and 6% gravel. Course features include rocky climbs, wooded descents, ridge lines, and a steep rock-stair climb near the finish known as Broken Rock. Route markings will use orange stakes, pin flags, arrow signs, and tape; turns and crossings will be marked and wrong-way paths signed.
Aid stations and support vary by distance: the 50K lists five aid stations, the 20 Miler three, and the 10 Miler one, with Forrest Village serving as a primary aid hub and drop bag/crewing area for the 50K and 20 Miler. Restrooms are available at main aid stations. The event is cup-less so runners must carry their own hydration vessel. Pacers are permitted for the 50K on the final lap from Forrest Village to the finish.
Awards are given to the top three male and female finishers and the top overall non-binary finisher in each distance. Registrations cancelled 60 or more days before race day receive a 75% credit; registrations within 60 days are final. Transfers between individuals and within-event distance changes are allowed under stated conditions. Events may proceed in varied weather, but severe conditions can prompt course changes or cancellation without refund. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
