Bristol Trail & Ultra

The Bristol Trail & Ultra is a trail running event that begins and ends in the city centre of Bristol at The Amphitheatre, Museum Square. The event features two distinct course options that incorporate a mixture of footpaths, parkland, woodland trails, riverside paths, and disused railway lines.

The available distances for this event are:

  • 55 km Ultra
  • 25 km Trail

The route leads participants along the Avon through the city centre before joining the Frome Valley Way. After passing through Eastville Park, the paths follow the Bristol and Bath Railway pathway. The longer distance continues onto the River Avon Trail, while both routes eventually merge to pass under the Clifton Suspension Bridge and climb through the Leigh Wood Nature Reserve. The final section crosses the bridge into Clifton before returning to the city centre.

The courses are fully waymarked with directional signs and confidence markers, and GPX files are provided for navigation. Participants have access to feed stations along the route, with three stations available for the ultra distance and one for the shorter course. All participants receive chip timing, medical support, and a finishers medal upon completion.

Specific age requirements are in place for this event. Participants must be at least 20 years old to enter the 55 km ultra, while the 25 km trail requires participants to be 18 years or older. All finishers must complete their respective routes by 18:00. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
