Course and rules

All runners use a common 5.2-mile loop around the park, mostly run clockwise. The route is marked with orange and white streamers and with yellow glow sticks after dark. Some trail sections are rough, rutted, or muddy; winter conditions may lead to wet and dirty footing. The event is cupless, so participants must provide their own drink container. The event is USATF sanctioned and dogs are not allowed on the course. The trails remain open to other users, including pedestrians, cyclists, and horseback riders. Runners should yield to horses, step to the side of the trail, and communicate with riders before passing. On narrow sections, faster runners are expected to announce passes. Organizers are not equipped to provide medical care; in an emergency call 9-1-1. Organizers advise carrying a cell phone and a headlamp if there is a chance of being on the course after dark.

Parking and support

A Discover Pass is required to park inside Bridle Trails State Park. Park staff will sell single-day passes for $10 and 12-month passes for $30. Parking inside the park is limited; overflow parking is available outside the park. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
