The course for the longer distances is a single loop that follows the Arkansas River and passes through the granite-blasted Tunnel Drive tunnels. Runners climb to a high point at 7,109 feet with views of the Royal Gorge, the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, and Pikes Peak. The route includes rolling singletrack within Royal Gorge Mountain Park, a crossing of the highest bridge in the United States, and a descent through Temple Canyon.
Elevation gain by distance is listed as about 575 feet for the 10k, 2,800 feet for the 35k, 4,200 feet for the 50k, and 4,400 feet for the 35 mile course. Aid stations are described as well stocked with Tailwind, Muir Energy Gels, baked goods, snacks, fruit, soda, and warm cooked items such as bacon, quesadillas, potatoes, and pierogis.
Event logistics note that packet pickup is scheduled at Centennial Park the day before and the morning of the race. Pacing is prohibited. Crewing is allowed only at crew accessible aid stations and all aid stations are reachable by 2WD vehicles. Parking is available at Centennial Park with additional parking across the Arkansas River and nearby communities.
