The route follows the Arkansas River, passes through the granite-blasted Tunnel Drive tunnels, climbs to a high point of 7,109 feet, and runs several miles of singletrack within Royal Gorge Mountain Park. The course crosses what is described as the highest bridge in the United States and finishes with a descent through Temple Canyon.
