Bridge Burner Ultra

Bridge Burner Ultra is a single loop trail event in Cañon City, Colorado, offered in several distances. The course follows the Arkansas River, passes through the granite blasted Tunnel Drive tunnels, and climbs to a high point at 7,109 feet with views of the Royal Gorge and Pikes Peak. Runners traverse rolling singletrack in Royal Gorge Mountain Park, cross the highest bridge in the United States, and descend through Temple Canyon.

Distances include:

  • 35 Mile
  • 50k
  • 35k
  • 10k

The longer courses report significant vertical gain, up to about 4,500 feet. Aid stations are described as well stocked with Tailwind products and Muir Energy Gels, plus snack items such as banana bread, fruit, soda, and warm cooked options including bacon, quesadillas, potatoes, and pierogis. Pacing is prohibited; crewing is allowed only at crew accessible aid stations and all aid stations are accessible by 2WD vehicles. Crews traveling between Temple and Hard Times are advised to use Highway 50 rather than Temple Canon Road to avoid dusting runners.

Packet pickup is scheduled the day before at Centennial Park and on race morning at Centennial Park. Registration information notes items included with entry such as a gender specific race shirt, a BOCO trucker hat except for the 10k, a personalized bib, a finishers award, and a post race meal. Camping is available at Royal Gorge Park East Ridge Campground on a first come first serve basis. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
