Rim to Rim Royal Gorge Races
Cañon City, United States • 3 Oct 2026
Event Overview
The Rim to Rim Royal Gorge Races take place on October 3, 2026. The event offers three different race distances: a 5K road run, an 8-mile trail run, and a half marathon trail run (13.1 miles). A free kids race with a dinosaur theme is also available.
Race Courses
The 5K road run goes through the foothills near the Royal Gorge Bridge. The route includes crossing the bridge before the finish line and is walkable.
The 8-mile trail run uses trails adjacent to the Royal Gorge Bridge. The course includes the Twisted Cistern and Made in the Shade trails. This race is capped at 200 participants.
The half marathon trail run is a 13.1-mile trail journey with a mix of terrain, also finishing at the Royal Gorge Bridge. This race is also capped at 200 participants.
A note from the organizer states that the City of Canon City's Trails Committee may cancel the trail races due to heavy rain or snow to protect the trails. In that case, registered runners for the half marathon may be offered an alternative 8-mile dirt road course. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
