The Sangre de Cristo Trail Festival is presented by the Human Potential Running Series and takes place near Westcliffe, Colorado at Greenhorn / Music Meadows Ranch, adjacent to the USFS Grape Creek Trailhead. The festival runs over two days in late September 2026 (September 26-27, 2026). The event offers multiple trail distances with a combined runner capacity of 350. The published races are:

The 100-Mile race has a published overall cut-off of 38 hours. All finishers receive a finisher's award; official 100-mile finishers receive a belt buckle. The event is run on the Rainbow Trail in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains.

Logistics and rules

Registration for 2026 opens December 1, 2025; online registration closes September 22, 2026. Camping is allowed on site with tent camping, camper vans, roof-top tents, and very limited trailers (trailers must be under 12 feet); tent campers must reserve space. Drop bags are allowed at Music Meadows and at Horn Creek and Venable where applicable; drop bags should be left on race morning. Crew and spectator access is restricted - general crew access is at the Start/Finish area, and detailed crew and pacer rules vary by distance. Pacers and crew have specific pickup locations and requirements for some distances. The 100-Mile entrants have a published runner volunteer requirement of eight hours of service (with a $150 buy-out option) as described in the event materials.
