Bonfyre Trail Fest

The Bonfyre Trail Fest takes place in the Waterloo State Recreation Area, which is the largest park in the Lower Peninsula of Michigan. The event utilizes the DTE Energy Foundation Trail near Chelsea. The course features a variety of terrain including pine forests, steep embankments, and areas with large boulders. Participants run past several lakes and wetlands throughout the route.

The event offers three distinct distances for runners:

  • 5 miles
  • 10 miles
  • 18 miles

The trails are marked, and aid stations are positioned along the course. Logistics for the event include finish line food for participants. Registered runners receive a custom beanie, while those who complete their distance are awarded a custom campfire mug and become eligible for awards.

The post-race area features a beer garden and a large bonfire. A live band provides musical entertainment for participants as they gather after their runs. The event is supported by various partners including local running shops and the DTE Trail organization. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
