BMF Hounslow Training Run - Perry's Lockleys Pinnacles Return

This is a guided training run on sections of the Hounslow course in Blue Mountains National Park, starting and finishing at Perry's Lookdown car park. The route descends 2.5 km of stairs into the Grose Valley, crosses the Grose River, ascends a rough trail to the Lockleys Pylon summit, follows single track to the Pinnacles car park, then returns to Perry's. An optional turnaround point is available at Lockleys Pylon.

Distances and options

  • 18 km route with over 1600 m elevation gain and loss.
  • 11 km option at Lockleys Pylon with about 1200 m elevation gain and loss.

Organisers hold a National Parks and Wildlife Service ECO PASS licence and insurance to conduct training within the park. Three pace groups will operate, named MIGHTY TURTLES, HARES and a medium-paced group, and participants are supported throughout the course. The session is used as a race preparation run and includes discussion of race gear, nutrition, pacing and course information.

Participants are expected to carry mandatory Hounslow Classic gear and sufficient food and hydration for up to five hours on foot. Minimum age for this session is 16. A training run on the Hounslow 17 km course in the Blue Mountains National Park, following cliff-top tracks and stair descents, with three pace groups, mandatory race gear, and NPWS ECO PASS licensing.

A 25 km trail run along the Oaks Fire Trail in Blue Mountains National Park, from near Woodford station to Euroka Clearing at Glenbrook. One midcourse aid station at about 12 km and finish-line food and drinks are provided.

Trail running event at the Bilpin Fruit Bowl in the Blue Mountains with 16 km and 34 km courses plus a 1.5 km kids race. The event is non profit and donates ten dollars from each entry to local Rural Fire Services.

A multi-day trail running event in the Grose Valley near Blackheath, featuring a 17 km cliff-top loop and a 42 km marathon with an out and back to the Pinnacles from Allview Escape.
