Bluebell Trail Run - Dalkeith Country Park

The Bluebell Trail Run takes place in Dalkeith Country Park and raises funds for MYPAS, a charity providing health and wellbeing services for young people in East Lothian and Midlothian. The event is organised and managed by volunteers; volunteers also handcraft many of the finisher medals and support race-day roles such as marshalling and registration.

Race options include:

  • 1 km junior run - for children not yet in secondary school; under 5s must be accompanied.
  • 5 km trail run.
  • 10 km trail run.

All races are chip timed. Entry is by prior registration only; on-the-day entries are not available. There is a race village with a bag drop tent and a small unisex marquee for changing; showers are not provided. Marshals and first-aid stewards are available on the course. The trail includes narrow sections and areas with livestock; dogs are not permitted and runners are asked to avoid headphones so they can hear marshals and other runners. Participants are advised to stay on the middle of clear paths to reduce tick risk.

Travel options include car, local bus services and trains to nearby stations with a walk or bus connection to the park. After event costs are covered, remaining income from entries supports MYPAS work. Volunteers and local schools contribute to many parts of the event.
