Blue Heron Hundreds
Blue Heron Hundreds is a multi-distance ultrarunning event held at Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge near Mooresville, AL. The course uses soft crushed gravel and dirt roads and centers on a 15.5-mile core loop that passes birding and wildflower viewing areas.

Course format: the 15.5-mile loop is repeated multiple times - the 100 mile distance uses six full loops with a final smaller loop, the 100K uses four loops, and the 50K uses two loops. The overall cutoff for all events is 31 hours.
Aid stations are positioned on the loop at mile 3.3, mile 6.2 (unmanned), mile 9.3, mile 12.2, and the start/finish at mile 15.5. Stations provide water, sports drinks, soda, snacks, and at the start/finish and the loop station reached twice per loop there will also be soup, potatoes, quesadillas, and coffee. Port-o-johns are located at the start/finish area and at the second aid station in the loop.
Support details: 100 mile and 100K runners may have one drop bag placed at the first and fourth aid stations of each loop; it will be returned after the event ends. Pacers are permitted around mile 47 for the 100 mile and 100K distances and must sign a waiver at the start/finish area. Crewing is only allowed at the start/finish area.
Awards include a blue heron finisher medal for all finishers, a custom belt buckle for 100 mile finishers, and overall awards for male and female winners in each distance. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
