Bleak Midwinter Endurance Run
The Bleak Midwinter Endurance Run is a timed trail event held at Sac River Mountain Bike Trails in Springfield, MO. The course is a loop of about 4.15 miles on moderately technical single-track with rocks, roots, hardwood forest, and small glades. The loop has roughly 400 feet of elevation gain per lap and is marked with permanent signs plus temporary flags and ribbons.
Race options include:
- 12 hour run
- 6 hour run
- 3 hour run
- 1 hour run
All runners start in the same direction for the first lap; after that they may run the loop in either direction, but must check in between each lap. Only completed laps count toward mileage and all laps must be recorded before the end of each timed event. A Base Camp Pavilion aid station at the start and finish provides food, drinks, shelter, port-a-potties, and first aid. Crew space is available around the pavilion.
Packet pickup takes place at Sac River Mountain Bike Trails on the event date. Registration fees are listed per event: $95 for 12 hour, $75 for 6 hour, $55 for 3 hour, and $35 for 1 hour. The event proceeds support Headington Hill Classical Academy, a 501c3 organization. The event will proceed rain, snow, or shine; cancellations are possible only for safety or factors beyond the organizers control. Dogs are allowed only on leash; no cats.
