Bleak Midwinter Endurance Run
Springfield, United States • 24 Jan 2026
Event status and location
The Bleak Midwinter Endurance Run scheduled for January 24, 2026 has been cancelled. The organizer cites the loss of the primary sponsor and plans to consider returning in 2027 with a new sponsor.
The event was set at Sac River Mountain Bike Trails near Springfield, MO. The park covers about 300 acres with over 14 miles of interconnected single-track trail. The trail system is managed by the Springfield-Greene County Park Board and is part of the Ozark Greenways network.
Race format, course and services
The event was a timed endurance run on a roughly 4.15-mile loop with four timed options: 12 hour, 6 hour, 3 hour, and 1 hour. The loop is moderately technical single-track with rocks and roots, hardwood forests, small glades, and approximately 400 feet of elevation gain per lap. The course is marked with permanent signs and temporary directional signs, flags, and ribbons. Runners start in the same direction for the first lap; after that they may run the loop in either direction. Only completed laps count toward mileage and runners must check in between laps.
One aid station at the Base Camp Pavilion would have provided food, drinks, warming space, port-a-potties, and first aid. Crews could set up tents near the pavilion. All registered runners were to receive event swag; additional swag for 12- and 6-hour entrants and special awards for 50K (8 laps) and 50M (12 laps) finishers. Dogs were allowed on leash. The event policy stated no refunds and that the race would proceed rain, snow, or shine unless canceled for safety or permit reasons. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
