Course, logistics, and rules

The course was a new roughly 4.15-mile loop of single-track trail with rocks and roots and about 400 feet of elevation gain per loop. The trail is marked with permanent signs and temporary directional signs, survey flags, and ribbons. Runners were to start in the same direction for the first lap and then could run laps in either direction, provided they checked in between laps. Only completed laps counted toward mileage. One aid station at the Base Camp Pavilion was planned to provide food, drinks, warming space, porta-potties, and first aid. The trail area is a 300-acre park with over 14 miles of interconnected single-track, managed by the Springfield-Greene County Park Board.
