Leaky Hourglass Ultra
Scheduled for August 29, 2026 in Half Way, Missouri, the Leaky Hourglass Ultra is a Last Man Standing event with a time-shrinking format. Each lap is a 4.167 mile out-and-back and the allowed cutoff decreases by one minute after each completed lap, starting with 60 minutes for the first lap and continuing until one runner is the only one capable of completing a lap.
The course is a chip and sealed rural highway with rolling hills and roughly 250 feet of elevation gain per lap. The route is not closed to traffic; runners are required to run facing traffic and must carry a headlamp and a flasher after sunset.
There is a manned aid station at the start and finish offering Tailwind Endurance Fuel, water and a variety of hot and cold snacks including chips, pickles, candy bars and other items. The turnaround is an unmanned station with Tailwind, water, and prepackaged snacks available in a tote.
Logistics note: the event site is about 20 miles north of Springfield, Missouri, and primitive camping is allowed on site for the Friday and Saturday nights before and of the event. On-site packet pickup is available the day before the race and on the morning of the event. No refunds are issued and bib transfers are allowed. Professional race photos will be provided free of charge by Mile 90 Photography. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
