Leaky Hourglass Ultra - August 29, 2026, Half Way, MO

The Leaky Hourglass is a Last Man Standing running event held in Half Way, Missouri (2055 Hwy Z), about 20 miles north of Springfield, MO. Each lap is a 4.167 mile out-and-back. The event uses a decreasing cutoff format: the first lap has a 60-minute cutoff, and each subsequent lap reduces the cutoff by one minute until only one runner completes a lap. Professional race photos will be provided free of charge by Mile 90 Photography. No refunds will be issued; bib transfers were allowed until Saturday, August 3, 2024 @2359.

Course and logistics

The course is on a chip-and-seal rural highway with rolling hills and roughly 250 feet of elevation gain per lap. The course is not closed to traffic; runners are required to run facing traffic and must carry a headlamp and a flasher after sunset. Aid is available at two locations: a manned Start/Finish aid station offering Tailwind Endurance Fuel, water, chips, pickles, candy bars, Scooby snacks, and other hot and cold options, and an unmanned Turnaround station with Tailwind, water, and prepackaged snacks in a tote. Primitive camping is allowed on site for Friday and Saturday night. On-site packet pickup is scheduled for Friday, August 28 and Saturday, August 29.
