Birnam Hill Classic 2026

The Birnam Hill Classic takes place on Saturday 28 March 2026 in Birnam, Dunkeld. It is organised as a hill running event with race timing, registration and results handled through the ProTay platform.

The event includes the following race distances and formats:

  • Seniors and U20 together: 6.6 km, 360 m climb
  • Junior U16: 3 km to the Crags
  • Junior U12: 1.5 km to the bench

Entry and category details note a seniors category AS. Entry fees for adults aged 21 and over are £15 plus a booking fee. Entry is free for ages 16 to 20, and junior races are free to enter with online registration required prior to race day. U20 athletes run with the senior field.

Registration is based at Birnam Arts on Station Road, Birnam PH8 0DS. The race start and finish are on the road next to the Beatrix Potter garden (Grid Ref NO032420). Prizegiving takes place in Birnam Arts.

Safety requirements state that competitors should carry or wear full body cover, a compass, map and whistle in line with Scottish hill running safety guidance. The event also forms part of the Highland Boundary Series Championship where the best three results from the four races count and a small prize is offered to those completing all four events. Night hill running around Glenshee ski station on compact piste snow, with 6.5 km and 11.5 km circuit options. Participants must carry winter mountain kit and meet fitness and experience requirements.

Deuchary Hill Canter on 29 March 2026 is an 18 km hill race at Polney Loch, Dunkeld, with 800 m of ascent. Entry fee is £15, minimum age 20, and competitors must carry safety kit; it is part of the Highland Boundary Series.
