The Cateran Trail Ultramarathon is a challenging 55-mile (90 km) circular race starting and finishing at Gulabin Lodge in the Spittal of Glenshee, Scotland. The course follows ancient drove roads and tracks once used by the Caterans, historic cattle thieves, traversing forest trails, rough tracks, and open hillside with approximately 7,450 feet (2,250 meters) of ascent. About 90% of the route is off-road, featuring stunning rural scenery and a final climb to An Lairig Pass before descending to the finish. The event emphasizes self-sufficiency, prohibits support crews, and requires mandatory safety kit, including a foil blanket and mobile phone.
