The Billy Goat Mountain Climb is a trail event held in the Cleveland National Forest just outside Silverado, California. Distances offered include:
- 10K
- 13.1 mi (half marathon)
- 17 mi Silverado Loop
The half marathon is an out-and-back that begins on Maple Springs Road near Lost Woman Canyon. Runners follow the creek on a worn asphalt road for about 1.5 miles before the route moves onto a dirt truck trail. The course climbs via switchbacks to Dead Man's Curve, continues past Four Corners where Harding Truck Trail and N. Main Divide meet Maple Springs Road, and reaches N. Main Divide before returning to the Finish. The 10K follows the same route and turns around at Dead Man's Curve about 1.5 miles up the truck trail. The Silverado Loop is a local route with nearly 3,800 feet of elevation gain.
Aid stations will provide water, electrolytes and light calories and are planned at multiple locations on each course, with specific placements listed for each distance. Runners are shuttled from a St. Michael's Riviera lot across from the Silverado Community Center at 27641 Silverado Canyon Rd. Bib pick up location is to be determined, with race day pick up available.
Entry fees vary by date and distance. The event does not allow refunds; entries may be applied to the following year if the race is cancelled. The organizer prefers re-routing before cancelling and maintains contingency plans. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
