Day of the Dead Half Marathon - San Antonio
This event at Northeast Lakeview College in Live Oak, Texas, is organized by Bigfoot Running Company and offers multiple race options across park and green belt terrain. Course surfaces may include paved trails, crushed granite, and dirt paths. Aid stations are placed on the course to provide water and basic assistance. Packet pickup is offered one and a half hours before the event start. There is a shirt guarantee cutoff ten days before the event.
A pre race costume contest is held at the starting area. Costumes are judged for creativity and authenticity and a winner receives the Day of the Dead Best Costume Award and a prize package. A post race rally tent hosts music and food with awards presentations and finish line refreshments.
Timing and awards vary by distance. The 5K, Quarter Marathon, and Half Marathon are chip timed and include overall trophies for male and female winners, masters recognition pins, and age group award pins. The Kids Dash is not timed and includes a tee shirt, medal, and a Kids Dash recognition pin. The Volunteer then Run option includes a chip timed bib, tee, and finisher medal. A Virtual Run option is offered for remote participation.
