Event overview

The Day of the Dead Half Marathon - San Antonio takes place on Sunday, October 4, 2026, at Northeast Lakeview College in Live Oak, TX. The event is presented by Bigfoot Running Company and is planned to use parks and green belts. Course surfaces may include paved trails, crushed granite, and occasional dirt paths. Aid stations are provided on course to supply water. A pre-race costume contest will be judged and a prize awarded. After the race there is a rally tent with live music and Mexican food and drinks listed as part of the post-race offerings. Packet pickup is offered 1.5 hours before the event start. Races proceed in all weather conditions unless otherwise changed.

Distances and formats offered:

• Kids Dash - about a 20 yard dash, not timed, for ages 10 and under.
• 1 Mile - not chip timed, includes shirt and medal.
• 5K - 3.11 miles, chip timed.
• Quarter Marathon - 6.55 miles, chip timed.
• Half Marathon - 13.1 miles, chip timed.
• Volunteer then Run and a Virtual Run option are also available.

Standard awards for 5K, Quarter and Half include 1st overall male/female trophies, 1st masters (40+) recognition pins, and age-group pins (top three as Gold, Silver, Bronze) across categories from 10 and under through 70+.
