Course and logistics
The course runs on gravel driveways, open grass areas, wide mowed grass pathways and some single-track dirt. Runners should expect uneven ground, exposed tree roots, rocks, fallen trees, low-hanging branches and wet or marshy sections. The course includes a creek crossing about 15-20 feet wide; water depth has ranged from ankle to knee depending on recent weather, and a rope will be suspended across the creek for assistance. The Kids Fun Run does not cross the creek.
All registered participants receive a shirt, a pancake breakfast and a finishers award (engraved woodallion). Participants who register by October 14 may choose a flannel shirt or flannel pants; registrations on or after October 15 receive a printed long-sleeve tech shirt with no guaranteed size. Parking at Camp Big Timber is limited. Awards are given for overall and age-group placings in the 3-mile and 5-mile runs; there are no awards for the 3-mile walk.
