Big Hill

Big Hill is an annual trail run held at the Big Hill Trailhead on Tinton Road near Spearfish, South Dakota. The 2026 edition takes place on May 17, 2026. The event includes separate courses for adults and a short youth course.

The event offers the following distances:

• 5K
• 8 mile
• Kids 1K

Entry prices shown for the 5K and 8 mile events include mandatory fees. Youth entries for competitors 16 and under are free. Member discounts are available and are applied during registration; membership signup is offered during the registration process. Registration closes on May 16, 2026.

The trailhead is located south of Spearfish. Directions from Interstate 90 include taking Exit 12, proceeding south on Jackson Street for about 1.5 miles, turning left onto Harvard Street, then right onto Hill Street which becomes Tinton Road (Forest Service Road 134). Continue about 8 miles to reach the trailhead on the right. Parking at the trailhead is limited.
