XTERRA Deadwood Mickelson takes place in Deadwood, South Dakota, on June 7, 2026. It is part of the XTERRA Trail Run World Series and allocates 232 TRWC slots. Race logistics and rules
The marathon course is USATF certified and is a Boston qualifier. Packet pickup and timing chips must be collected at the race expo; there is no packet pickup on race day. Shuttle buses serve the full and half marathon start areas and there is no parking at either start. Gear drop is provided at the starts and bags are transported to the finish and laid out by bib number. Children under 14 may not enter the full or half marathon but may run in the relay. Strollers and dogs are not allowed on the Mickelson Trail. The course is open for seven hours; a sag cyclist will be available and officials may withdraw course support after the open period.
Support and services
Aid stations are placed approximately every 2 miles and supply water, Powerade, banana chunks and pretzels; some stations carry M&Ms. Portable toilets are provided on course. Lawrence County search and rescue volunteers and bicycle monitors will be on the course, and an EMT-staffed medical tent is located at the finish. Results and awards are posted online and presented in the finish area. Refunds are not available; event changes are allowed until May 1.
